We have been privileged to live in the greatest country in the world, and in honor of Memorial Day, I wish to dedicate this article to the brave military men and women who have made it such.

Much blood has been spilled in settling and keeping this country free. From the beginning in 1607, a cross was planted on the shores of Cape Henry, VA; this land was dedicated to God, and a pledge was made to send the Gospel from these shores into every nation. These pertinent facts USED to be taught in American History classes in our public schools.

However, in these past several years, I fear that we have lost the knowledge of our true national heritage, our moral compass, and also wonder what has happened to the conscience of America. Our children are exposed to things that would have been considered X-rated material back in the 1950’s. Those were television’s innocent days of Howdy Doodie, the Buster Brown Show, and Father Knows Best. Even Desi and Lucy, who were married, slept in twin beds on their sit-com show.

Today, our kids are bombarded with filth over the PC’s, sent Cell Phone porn, and NO dirty word

is forbidden on prime-time TV…but you can’t talk about Jesus, unless it is in mockery!

There is a Bible verse that says, ‘to increase knowledge is to increase sorrow’. This has proven true as is seen in our young ones. Their age of innocence has and is being eroded and the whole country is paying for it. It is now being proposed to introduce homosexual education into Kindergarten classes without parental approval. The desires of the two per cent minority are over-riding the rights of the majority. The gutless, silent majority keeps allowing our rights and the rights of our children to be systematically torn away. May God convict our hardened hearts!

We are rapidly becoming a nation without restraint. We see it in our personal and collective lack of morals, economics, education, unbiased laws, a lack of personal goals and work ethics, and a general overall fallen status from the highest regarded, free nation in the world.

More so than ever, we are sowing into a seedbed of moral decadence and lawlessness, and what is the harvest going to do to our country? For one thing, our Constitutional rights are being overlooked, ignored, or stripped away. One example is: our laws against pornography are very strong, but because watchdogs aren’t in the face of the enforcers, these laws are mostly ignored. The last time we had a real porn crackdown was when President Reagan took office and initiated the assault against that industry that brutalized women and children. Today it is one of the most lucrative businesses in our nation! If anyone saw the Kiddie porn expose on Oprah’s show, you would have been sickened! I couldn’t watch, but heard the horrific details, through a TV Pastor.

This is just one front of attack against our country, our families, and against our moral fiber as a CHRISTIAN nation…yes, our American Constitution is founded upon the Word of Almighty God; and if you don’t believe that, then you need to read it for yourself, PLUS the state Constitutions of ALL fifty states! Most adults, let alone our school children, don’t have a clue as to our rich Christian foundation and heritage!

This month we are celebrating Memorial Day. I come from a long line of Veterans, and I am proud of every one of them. From the time they came to this country, my ancestors have fought in every war America has participated in up through Viet Nam, and served with honors.

Our hometown recently had their annual parade, and my daughter, who was married to a Vet, proudly marched and played in the VFW Band. When we attended the ceremony put on by the military, I was, as usual, moved to tears and full of pride and thankfulness for our wonderful GOD-given country. One civilian gentleman was standing at attention in front of me in his civvies, and gave a snap salute. As the crowd dispersed, I asked him if he was a Vet. When he said he was, I thanked him for serving our country, and shook his hand. He was humbled.

God has kept His mighty Hand on this country because we as a nation have served Him. We have stood for righteousness, as the laws of our land are STILL based on the Ten Commandments. America opened her schools with Bible reading, the Lord’s Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag, up to and including my generation of students.

In our efforts to be more tolerant of our more recent unchristian immigrants, we have watered down our own belief system. Our warped interpretation of fairness is becoming our undoing, which is taking us to the point of losing our Constitutional freedoms…such as the proposed reviving of the “un-Fairness” Doctrine. Our war veterans fought for a different America than what we have evolved down to. (Yes. According to TRUE scientific evidence, evolution only descends downward and never ascends upward, to the chagrin of the Darwinists)!

Unless we as a country get back to our Biblical values, America is on the verge of plunging into  oblivion as the once most powerful and affluent nation in the world; then potentially ending up as a third rate power, if even that. As a foreign visitor once observed, “America is great because America is good. When she ceases to be good, she will cease to be great”.

The aim of this article is to point out our spiritual condition as a nation, to remind us of our American Christian heritage, and to call our country back to God and our Biblical values on which we were founded.

God has so richly blessed America, it is high time for America to return to God while we still can.

In order to do that, we must obey His instructions in 2 Chronicles 7:14:

“If my people which are called by My name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal  their land”. Be it a nation or an individual, we must repent (change direction) back toward the God of our Fathers. Nothing less can save us.

In closing, I want to publicly thank all our military personnel for standing on the front lines of defense to protect our nation. Let us daily pray for our men and women serving our country at home and abroad, that God will help, bless, and protect them, as well as their families left behind.

Some of our Vets are coming home with such mental and/or physical problems, that many are committing suicide. Remember to pray for their recovery and re-entry back into civilian life, and please pray that once again, God will save and bless America!

In Jesus’ Name,
