When discovering a book, movie, article,
or website, it is only natural to be curious about the author. We want to know
who this individual is, what they believe and from what experience and/or
education they have obtained their expertise. Hence, I'm including an ABOUT US
link on this website.
The brief summary of my life is as follows:
I was born in 1944 in the northeast, to a working class family, and the eldest
of five children. I was "born again" in Ohio, and received my Bible
training in central Texas from 1968-1973. Afterward, I worked with other
ministries in several states, leading youth groups and setting up home Bible
clubs for kids, or adult Bible studies, always with the emphasis on salvation
and learning the Word of God.
Several years after returning to my hometown, I founded the Homeplace Mission,
and was licensed and ordained as an independent minister of the Gospel of our
Lord Jesus Christ.
In 1999, I was made assistant pastor, then eventually pastor, of a small
country church. At this time, I also served as a weekly Bible teacher over our
hometown radio station. During those years, we published a quarterly newsletter
for our church and program families. Last summer, we established a summer Bible
school for kids as well as adults.
As a pastor, I have done all the usual "pastor things" such as
visiting the sick and elderly, performing baptisms, officiating at funerals,
going door to door inviting people to church, etc. A lot of these things, I had
already done as a Christian layman for many years prior to my ordination, as
I'm sure many of you have done.
On a more personal note, I have raised two families and have three daughters of
whom I am very proud. My eldest daughter is an Anthropology/Archaeology graduate. She has served as a musician at
various churches and she is the mother of my only grandchildren. In
her "spare time," she manages my website. The middle daughter
completed college and is web page developer for her own company. The youngest daughter graduated college too and works in graphic media.
In conclusion, The Homeplace Mission is no big, world-wide ministry (other than
this website). I'm just a "milk and meat" preacher, who has a passion
for souls and a deep love for learning and teaching the Word of God. It is my
desire that through this "electronic pulpit" I can help YOU find and
know our wonderful God!
